The Canadian Water Resources Association (CWRA) annual conference brings together hydrologists, engineers, planners and policy makers to share ideas and information about pragmatic ways to better manage water in Canada. This year, the CWRA’s conference was in Penticton, B.C.. Talks ranges from how to estimate climate change impacts of extreme flood and drought, to merging western science with Indigenous water knowledge, to water governance at the national, provincial, and regional scale. One session or stream was devoted to international transboundary water governance, hosted by the International Joint Commission that works to prevent and resolve water conflicts between the US and Canada.

Given the interest in transboundary watersheds, Canadian SEEC Co-chair Shannon Bentley and Alternate Commissioner Anna Warwick Sears, presented a poster at CWRA, introducing SEEC to this national audience. There was a great deal of interest in the history and structure of SEEC, as well as interest from potential grantees, people who would like to share data, and people interested in joining the commission. The poster-session format allowed SEEC commissioners to answer questions one-on-one and build relationships.
