Bhalwinder is an active community volunteer in the recreation, policing, education, and multiculturalism sectors, Active Board member of the Sunset Community Centre and served on Social Science and Research Council of Canada, Vancouver Police Chief Diversity Advisory Committee, Board and Foundation of the Vancouver Community College, and with the Canadian Sikh Studies and Teaching Society of BC.
